The Beats by Dre headphones were originally announced at CES 2008, where we were able to get our first experience at listening to the headset. As we noted in our video back then, we were thoroughly impressed. The sound was killer, with fantastic bass. The headphones were well thought out, shipping with audio cables that fit into the original iPhone, and even including a cable that has a microphone on it so that you can take phone calls.

The Beats by Dr. Dre were conceived by Dr. Dre himself, and are mutually designed with Monster Cable. The headphones feature both a unique and futuristic style, as well as newly developed sonic technologies, which result in outstanding performance.

In this episode, we unbox the Beats by Dr. Dre. Included in the box are the headphones themselves, a red audio cable (which fits into the original iPhone), a customized iSoniTalk cable (which also fits into the iPhone, and has a microphone so that you can use the Beats to talk on the phone), cleaning cloth, a studio jack, and protective carrying case.

You can find them soon for $349.95, which is $50 less than they were originally announced for.

Unboxing Live 038: Apple iPhone 3G, White and Black, unboxed in Apple Store

After a long and arduous wait and a somewhat aggravating purchase experience, we had to insist that the folks at the Apple store allow us to film this episode of Unboxing Live. Obviously, we are unboxing the 16GB iPhone 3G, in both black and white flavors. Included with the iPhone are iPhone earbuds, a Dock cable, and a new tiny USB power brick. It also comes with a SIM removal tool, a cleaning cloth, and the ever-present Apple stickers. Conspicuously missing from the package is the iPhone 3G stand-up dock, which is sold separately for $20.

Flip Mino unboxing gallery

A few weeks ago, the Flip Mino was unleashed, becoming the first Flip Video camcorder that included a rechargeable internal battery. All Flips before that run on standard AA batteries. The Flip Mino is also a bit smaller than the original Flip Video camera, and the Flip Ultra. At a price of $179, it’s fairly decent. Since our last giveaway contest went so well (and the HDX Dragon computer is on its way to our winner!), we thought you guys might be interested in yet another opportunity to win some cool stuff from Gear Live. That’s why we are giving away a one-of-a-kind customized iPhone, along with a bunch of accessories from LRG and Monster Cable. Even better? This time, we will have three winners.

What makes our iPhone so special? Well, we’ve had it customized and done up in Gear Live colors. Heck, we even put our logo on it, so you can rock the fact that you are a fan of what we do here. HP Mini-Note 2133 unboxing gallery

We got our hands on one of the new HP Mini-Note ultraportable netbooks, and thought you guys would enjoy seeing a gallery that’s chock full of unboxing shots. The Mini-Note is HP’s entry into the netbook (very tiny, ultraportable computers that are geared towards Internet tasks) realm, and we think they nailed it in quite a few key areas. From our HP Mini-Note review:

The HP Mini-Note 2133 impresses with its over-all well thought-out design and strong focus on business performance. While the unwieldy mouse button placement will likely throw most users for a loop, it is possible to adapt after a few hours of usage. If you are in the market for an ultra-light laptop with a roomy keyboard and high resolution screen, but don’t feel like waiting around to see if an Atom version is on the way, the 2133 seems like an ideal choice.

HP TouchSmart PC gets refreshed, unboxed

HP just announced their newly updated TouchSmart PC. We were able to get our hands on one a little early, and figured we’d do our obligatory unboxing gallery. When we first saw the original back at CES 2007, we thought it was a huge, clunky computer. This new design actually seems to almost one-up Apple in a way. After all, the computer has a similar profile to an iMac, and is touch sensitive - you know, hence the whole TouchSmart name.

The model we got also features a wireless keyboard and mouse, both of which operate over RF technology rather than Bluetooth, which means sync issues should be non-existent. Oh, don’t get us wrong, this computer does include Bluetooth, as well as a host of other technologies. It’s packed to the brim with the latest technology too. While we’re on the subject, might as well list it all out, right?

Well, we’ve got an Intel Core 2 Duo T5850 processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, SuperMulti DVD burner, 802.11b/g/n support, NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS HD graphics card, and ships with Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition.

Announcing the winner of our HP HDX Dragon computer package…

Alright, we’ve hyped it for over a month - the 31 Days of the Dragon contest was our second biggest giveaway in the history of Gear Live. The rules were simple - interact with Gear Live and our community, and don’t spam. You earn points for different actions you take on the site, and the person with the most points at the end of the contest would be declared the winner, as long as they didn’t resort to spamming to get there.

We saw a lot of new activity across the board. Comments, forum posts, gallery comments, new members, and the list goes on...but there could only be one winner. 31 Days of the Dragon: Win our HP HDX Dragon computer package - The Rules

We’ve been working on a way to recognize you readers who participate here on our network of sites at Gear Live, and we are happy to announce the launch of Gear Live Points. In a nutshell, Points are awarded to users whenever they take any sort of interactive action on Gear Live. We think it’s a fun way to spice up your daily visits to the site.

You earn points for all the following actions:

• Becoming a member: 100 points
• Upload a member photo: 50 points
• Choose or upload an avatar: 25 points
• Posting a blog comment: 1 point
• Posting a gallery comment: 1 point
• Assign a forum signature: 10 points
